Hello from Japan!
Now at: Children’s Museum of Manhattan (NY)
Hello from Japan!, a 1,500 sq. ft. exhibition presents a bustling modern Tokyo street that bridges to a tranquil Shinto shrine, contrasting a modern “Kawaii” esthetic with traditional motifs and customs. The contrast between urban high-tech “cute” and ancestral customs rooted in nature shows how Japanese culture values history, while maintaining a strong taste for the vanguard, a society where the past, present and future harmoniously coexist.
